Increase or Decrease the Angle of Folding
The factory default assembly of the Locking Rear Folding Adapter will provide a maximum folding range of about 90º from the In-use position to the Folded position. However the component can be adjusted to provide greater range up to about 120º or lesser range to a minimum of about 45º . In some special applications these broader ranges of folding movement may be desirable, however the Fitting procedure will be much more involved.
Adjust the Rear Stop
The Rear Stop slides in a sector shaped slot. It can be completely removed and reversed to gain an additional several degrees of adjustment.
Adjust the Orientation of the Tube Mount (RTHTM)
The Tube Mount RTHTM is held on the LRFA by two bolts. Removing these bolts will reveal the silver swivel ring of the LRFA. The swivel ring is machined with three sets of threaded holes. Attaching Tube Mount to the centre set of holes is the factory default. By attaching the Tube Mount to either of the other sets of holes the rotation range will increase or decrease. Combining the angle adjustment provided by the Tube Mount attachment with the adjustmen of the Rear Stop provides an infinite range of adjustment between about 45º and 120º.
Front Drop-Down Configuration
The DLRFM8 can be mounted such that rather than folding behind the wheelchair seat, the mount drops down in front of the user. This configuration will move the mount away from the field of view of the user to allow them to navigate a wheelchair.
1. The (L/R) orientation of the Lock Mechanism is opposite for the Front Drop-Down mount. I.e. an LRFA+RTHTM(L) will be mounted on the right side of the chair.
2. The mount is held in its In-use position by the Lock Mechanism. The "rear-stop" - the gold colored chip sliding in the sector shaped slot - is adjusted to control how far the mount "drops down" in front of the user.
3. The Tube Mount (RTHTM) is connected to the LRFA with the bolts in the holes which diminish the maximum rotational range of the LRFA
4. The mount must always be guided between the In-use and Dropped positions and must not be allowed to fall suddenly or drop unsupported onto the Rear Stop.
