Inner Pieces
Inner Pieces are available in a variety of sizes and styles to suit the frames of many wheelchairs. Clamp style inner pieces are used when frame bars are available on the main wheelchair frame or seat frame. When no tubing is available it may be possible to use Bolt-on Adapters or the wheelchair may have a track system for which Inner Piece sets are available.
When fitting a wheelchair mount for ordering:
- The frame of the wheelchair must be reviewed and measured, as necessary, where the inner piece can be positioned.
- Always record the make and model names of the wheelchair, however these names alone cannot identify the inner piece needed.
- It can be helpful to take photos of all sides of the wheelchair when reviewing the frame should assistance be needed in identifying an attachment point.
- If no inner piece size or wheelchair information is indicated on an order for a wheelchair mount the default 1” standard inner piece (UFC1000IP) will be included; exchanges are subject to fees.
Standard Inner Pieces
Clamp style Inner pieces have a Cap and Body that fit around the selected frame location on the wheelchair frame. The outer face of the Inner piece is machined with circular grooves that fit with optional frame clamp parts and the outer piece receiver.
The location on the wheelchair frame where the inner piece will be attached should be accessible from all sides and free of obstructions along about 2 1/4” of the frame for diameters under 1 inch or free along about 1 1/2” for larger diameter frames; a quick check method is to wrap three fingers (2 1/4”) or two fingers (1 1/2”) around the location to check they fit.

Side Mount Inner Pieces
When a seat pan restricts access to the upper edge of the wheelchair frame tubing, it may be possible to use a Side Mount Inner Piece which does not require clearance on the topside of the bar. The standard wheelchair seat frame diameter is 1” for which there are three styles of Side Mount Inner Piece.

Bolt-On Adapters and Track Systems
Some wheelchairs do not have frame tubes available to clamp an Inner Piece onto. A Bolt-on Adapter may be used to attach to pre-existing holes in the frame or when used with a track nut can be fitted to the channel track in a seat frame. A Bolt-on Adapter may be directly bolted to a square or flat wheelchair frame or bolted to a round frame with special adapters to provide a secure attachment
